“Pens and Needles” new works by Dea Webb and Markham Maes + more @ 1300 East Second Satarday block pARTy …
Choosing to do an alternate art walk night, its taken Plastic Chapel doing Second Saturdays for over four years to begin to compete/compare with the First Friday crowds (Sante Fe and Tennyson).
But, the monthly summer “1300 East Colfax Block pARTy’s” are becoming quite the hit, and bringing more and more people out! It’s your one stop block for food, fashion, and fun …
Like the Summer heat, Second Saturday for July has arrived quickly, upon us …

Lumos and Nox - 3107 East Colfax - the newest kid (boutique) on the block offers a variety of very unique and hard to find independent designer clothing and accessories - from a variety of local, national, and international designers. This months designer and fashion show will be Katie Wells aka Giddyup! Katie has a keen sense of style herself, and her clothing ranges from the playful to the dramatic, never to disappoint!

*John Common wearing Katie’s hand embroidered “Bleeding Heart” shirt shown in 303 magazine.

* Two unique one of a kind “GIDDYUP!” original pieces!

The Shoppe - 3103 East Colfax - featuring new works by Ben Givens, aka “Professor Lunchbox”. His unique stylized characters are reminiscent of comics new and old … think a mix of “Nut Shack” and the characters from that classic skit on Sesame Street, where the kid has to remember a grocery list while on a walk through his NY neighborhood - “A gallon of Milk, a loaf of bread and a stick a butter” …
-
The Plastic Chapel -3109 East Colfax will be featuring a collaborative show with its very own Dea Webb (aka my better half!), and Markham Maes aka “Shitty Kitten” with a mixed media show aptly titled Pens and Needles. Local favorite Shitty Kitten will no doubt impress with new paintings and drawings (hence pens)with his unmistakable style, juxtaposed with Dea’s new 3d works of Felt (Needles), using the technique of “felting” she creates small and large dimensional felt sculptures, and using shadow boxes, almost in a diorama fashion, she creates dimensional paintings…
*Here is a short videos by Gavin McGlynn (huge thanks -great production!) that will briefly explain how it works, and what it is:
.. and here is a few Shitty Kitten pieces:
