Second Saturday November!

So with fall quickly coming to abrupt end, the base is getting deep in the high country, opposite the typical 60 to 70 degree days in between short blasts of winter reminders …… nothing short of Colorado bliss - damn were spoiled!
So don’t let a little cold weather stop you from exposure to some great new
work by two local talents..
November 12th Second Saturday - 3109 East Colfax @ Plastic Chapel :
we are lucky and proud to be hosting local talent and one of many artists
from Rino’s Wazee Union crew : Nicholas Hughes …
Nick has spent many years working as a professional artist and designer out of his downtown Denver studio. Nick’s work synthesizes digital and traditional media, which allows the work to be precise and expressive at the same time. For him, there is no difference between drawing on the computer and painting on a canvas. With this unique skill set he creates detailed vector illustrations, and paintings of all shapes and sizes; custom cnc wood carved pieces; album covers; massive murals; and high end vinyl wrapped art cars (to name a few).

“Most of my pieces are narrative and figurative in nature, dealing with the ideas of beauty, timelessness, social standards, and emotions. You might call me a contemporary romantic as most of my work is detailed, contained and considered, yet restless, playful and expressive. I love to contrast the beautiful and the sublime, creating work that is visually appealing yet repulsive at the same time. I tend to draw a lot of beautiful women, not for any chauvinistic reason, but as a reflection of the hyperficial nature of our times. Of course a great deal of my work is related to life experiences, but a deeper voice is always present, highlighting the brevity of beauty and how hopelessly hardwired and prone to certain deficiencies we all are. In short, my goal is to create work that has heavy aesthetics and heavier ideas.”

A few doors west at 3103 East Colfax is the best cupcake, pies, etc in town ”the Shoppe” . Their November artist will be the talented Anthony Salazar …. with ” No Dead Fish ” featuring new paintings and drawings with plenty of eye candy. Highly unlikely there’ll be fish, onions, beer glasses or similar still life.

3100 East Colfax block will be a little lonely this November, as Big Hairy Monster, and Lumos & Nox will be taking a break for November… But Ground Swell Gallery, our newest neighbor to the East will have something amazing as always!
